Our oceans and waterways are facing an extreme problem: plastics. With plastic quickly dominating our waters and with no proper way to break them down, Jetsam plans to turn one of our biggest issues into our biggest opportunity.
The Plastics Problem
At the pace our planet is going, by 2050 we will have more plastic in our ocean than fish. This is because there is no proper way to break down plastics, and most existing recycling plans do not actually follow through with the commitment. We at Jetsam are taking a much more aggressive approach to recycling and repurposing ocean collected plastics into everyday coastal goods. The plastic cannot be destroyed, so we might as well put it to work!
Our Commitment To Be Better
In addition to recycling plastics into designer Coastal goods, we will be pledging a portion of the money raised to partners like Save the Great South Bay, with the goal of cleaning up the mess. By partnering with Save the Great South Bay, we can help ensure plastics are being removed from our waterways with the Creek Defenders Program and help in the global recycling effort. Save the Great South Bay also has an oyster reseeding program dedicated to planting oysters and cleaning our local waters! We plan to not only clean the waters of plastics, but filter them too in order to create a better environment for us all.
